c. What type of NEAs would be most attractive for a human misison?The foremost constraint on a suitable NEA will be it's accessibility. Asteroids which can be reached using the available misison architecture/delta-v budget and within a certain flight time would be attractive. Asteroids having close approaches to Earth would be attractive, owing to lower misison durations and the opportunity to test mitigation technologies.Asteroid ahysical parameters such as size,rotation rate,interior structure also play a crucial role in an asteroid's attractiveness as a potential target. Ideally the asteroids should be big enough for astronaut operations and EVA. Sufficiently big asteroids will also ensure that they are natural bodies and not space junk like a spent rocket stage in a heliocentric orbit.More than 1/6th of the NEAs are expected to be binary systems. It is important to ensure that the potential targets do not have companions/satellites orbiting nearby which may prove hazardous to the approaching spacecraft and crew. Moreover, densities derived from binaries reveal that they are probably gravitational bound rubble piles rather than monolithic bodies.It should be ensured that the target bodies do not tumble , having non principal axis rotation which again may prove to be hazardous for astronaut operations.
